On September 15, 2007, Chrissie and Adam performed three
songs at the VegiTerranean ribbon cutting ceremony in Akron.
Check out the photos and video clips below.

We were at the restaurant opening with our friends Nancy, Val and Janet. A HUGE thank you to Nancy and Janet for
the photos and video from the event, and special thanks to Chrissie for making it an unbelievably wonderful weekend.
The day of the ribbon cutting ceremony, we got to the Northside Lofts, parked, took the elevator up and went out
to the front of the building. There was a stage set up off to the side with a barricade in front of it. After awhile
we started to wonder if we should go down near the front of the stage to get a spot so we could watch the ribbon
cutting ceremony. Nancy asked one of the security guys when the ribbon cutting ceremony would start and if we should
head on down there. Nah - there's a place right in front of the stage for VIPs so don't worry about getting a spot
- go in and have a few drinks and relax. Well, twist my arm! We went in and checked out the restaurant. A little
later they started to usher everyone down to the front. We were on Adam's side (which this time was backwards from
how they normally are). So everyone from Don Plusquellic (the mayor of Akron) to Dan Mathews came out and said
stuff, then Chrissie had her say. They didn't actually have a ribbon to cut, they fired off those pipe bomb confetti
things (only instead of confetti they had streamers with the restaurant name, URL and the date, but we didn't know
that until they went off). We were still standing in the front row when they all came out with their "pipe
bombs". Chrissie was on the opposite side of the stage from us.
If Taunia would have gotten confetti in her hair, it would have been a mess. Everyone on stage was getting lined
up and ready to "fire" when Taunia perked up and said, "I have a hood!!" And with that she
flipped her hood over her head. Chrissie saw this and, not wanting to have her evil plan thwarted, picked up her
"pipe bomb" and aimed it at Taunia's head. Someone in the back yelled at her so she put it down real
fast and turned to look behind her (maybe you could blow someone's head off with one of those - how would we know?).
Taunia still had her hood up and we were both laughing, because Taunia managed to save herself the hassle of having
to remove junk from her hair, and mostly because Chrissie had gotten yelled at. Chrissie turned back from looking
at the person who yelled at her and pointed to us and said, "Don't tempt me!" When they fired off the
streamers, the wind was blowing towards them so most of them blew back and landed all over them. It was all so
funny!
Chrissie and Adam performed three songs, then everyone headed back into the restaurant. Val and I went out
of the VIP gates and bought VegiTerranean shirts, then returned to the patio. It looked too crowded to go inside,
and there were quite a few people at the bar outside, but almost no one at the tables on the patio behind the bar.
The five of us grabbed a table and sat down. The bar is inside, but has windows that open so they can serve people
outside as well. We noticed Chrissie was getting drinks for people alongside the help. Nancy had finished her wine
and went over to the bar to get some more. Everyone serving seemed to be facing the inside. Finally Nancy asked
someone if he could tap Chrissie on the shoulder. She turned around and Nancy said, "Waitress! I need another
glass of wine and could you bring out a bottle for my friends out here?" and she pointed to the 4 of us at
the table. Chrissie said, "I'll be right there."
Nancy came walking back and told us what happened. I was thinking, "She's not going to come out he...."
and I turned around to see her inside picking up a tray and coming out from behind the counter "...SHIT!"
The door flew open and out came Chrissie with a bottle of wine, some glasses and a big smile. She refilled Val
and Janet's glasses, poured a glass for Nancy, then another one and offered it to me. I don't usually drink wine
and said, "No thanks." She offered it to Taunia, who said, "I have water." Nancy said, "Let's
toast!" Chrissie looked at the glass of wine in her hand and said, "I can't drink right now." I
took the glass from her and she got an empty one and held it out to Taunia and said, "Let me have some water."
Taunia poured some water into her glass and we did our toast and drank. She refilled our glasses and asked if there
was anything else she could get for us. We said no, then Val held out the bottle and said, "Here, don't forget
the bottle." Chrissie said, "You keep it."
We were also lucky enough to attend the private performance the night before in the Northside Lofts and the Chrissie
and Friends concert at the Civic. The entire weekend was a blast from start to finish!
The restaurant should be open very soon. See you there!
